Design for Dignity, the AIA|LA conference on homelessness, arrives as three crises collide. COVID-19, racial inequality, and the increasing number of Angelenos without shelter.
The multi-day forum, broken into three tight ZOOM sessions, convenes architects, housing & service providers, urban planners, and civic leaders who will investigate solutions that can alleviate homelessness in the short and long term.
Monique King-Viehland, Director, State and Local Housing Policy, Urban Institute and Natasha Hicks, Detroit Innovation Fellow, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government will be just two of the national and local figures who will speak. Speakers include proven innovators, and experts, who are committed to increasing opportunities and housing for those in need of shelter.
- Day One looks at the context of our time—COVID-19 and the disproportionate number of Black Angelenos without shelter.
- Day Two features tools that scale-up the production of housing, rapidly.
- Day Three offers a policy makers who will consider lessons learned today to facilitate change tomorrow.
