On August 21, the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee will take its first look at the latest hotel planned for Broadway.

The latest project, a Hyatt Centric, would replace a parking lot and small commercial building at 1140 S. Broadway with a 15-story, 139-room hotel tower featuring 42 parking spaces in an above-grade garage.

The proposed 198-foot tower is being designed by Architects Orange, and would feature garden area and fitness center on the fourth floor and a rooftop patio with a swimming pool.  Proposed exterior finishes include glass, plaster, porcelain tile, and metal.

Blue Arch Investments, which owns the project site, is also developing the hotel tower.

Broadway has recently seen the arrival of several hotels in historic office buildings, starting with the lauded Ace Hotel and the under-construction Proper and Hoxton developments at opposite corners of 11th Street.  The Hyatt Center, a boutique brand under the Hyatt umbrella, would be the first ground-up hotel along the corridor.
