Logos Faith Development has secured $15 million in financing for the first component of an affordable housing complex on land owned by St. Rest Friendship Church in South Los Angeles.
The proposed project, slated for property at 706 W. 85th Street, would rise on property owned by St. Rest Friendship Church, which has its main building fronting Manchester Avenue one block south. Plans call for the new construction of a four-story building featuring 62 one- and two-bedroom apartments above parking for 17 vehicles.
JZA Architecture is designing the contemporary low-rise structure.
“Sunflower Bank is excited to support the St Rest Phase One development and its impact on expanding access to affordable housing in Los Angeles," said James Canepa of Sunflower Bank, which provided the construction loan. "This project is a powerful example of what mission‑driven collaboration can achieve."
Construction is set to commence soon and be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
Logos Faith Development and St. Rest Church have plans for a second phase of the project which, when combined with the newly-financed development, will create 138 homes across two parcels as well as new space for the church.
