The wrapping is off at a new boutique hotel just west of the Harbor Freeway near Downtown Los Angeles.

The Metric Hotel, located at 285 Lucas Avenue, consists of a five-story building which will feature 28 guest rooms and amenities.

The project sits on a property previously located at the site of Jerry's Motel, and is being developed by the owners and operators of the now-demolished structure.  At the time of the project's grooundbreaking, a representative of the owner told Urbanize that the Metric is expected to cater to younger travelers by offering a more affordable alternative to the hotels located on the opposite side of the freeway.

Aaron Neubert Architects is designing the building, which uses modular building components and is clad in materials including glass and steel.

The project site is located just east of an empty lot at 1438 Miramar Street, where developer West Hollywood Community Housing Corp. is planning a 47-unit permanent supportive housing complex.  A few blocks south, SRO Housing Corp. is currently in the midst of construction of a similar development at 459 S. Hartford Avenue.

To the north at the intersection of 2nd and Emerald Streets, a 24-story market-rate apartment tower is proposed to replace a series of small commercial buildings.
