A Burger King restaurant on Central Avenue could be redeveloped with a hotel, according to plans submitted earlier this month to the City of Glendale.
The property, located at 515-523 N. Central Avenue, is slated for the construction of a seven-story edifice featuring 142 hotel rooms, reads a project description. All existing parking lots and buildings - including the Burger King a two-story commercial structure - would be demolished.
Property records list the owner of the site as a Glendale-based entity called VK Central, LLC.
The project is currently in its design review phase.
The project site, located at the corner of Central and Doran Street, is surrounding by a slew of new multifamily residential buildings - including the Altana Apartments and NEXT on Lex. A 1980s office building across the street from the property is also slated to become housing through an adaptive reuse project.
Other recent hotel developments in Downtown Glendale include an 11-story Hyatt Place and an under-construction Residence Inn.
Onni Group, a Vancouver-based developer, is planning an 857-room inn which would be among the largest in Los Angeles County.
