Tomorrow, Century Housing Corporation will join with officials from the City of Long Beach to hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for the Beacn, an affordable housing complex now under construction in Downtown Long Beach.
The two-building development, designed by the Architects Collective, will feature 160 residential units catering to seniors and veterans.
Beacon Place, a seven-story building, will serve low income seniors. The five-story Beacon Pointe, located next door, will cater to low income and formerly homeless veterans.
Plans also call for on-site supportive services, as well as amenities such as a gym, public plazas and 6,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
The podium-type structures are located at the corner of Long Beach Boulevard and East Anaheim Street, directly across the street from Metro's Blue Line.
