Wood framing is starting to rise above the concrete podium of a new supportive housing complex next to the headquarters of the Downtown Women's Center.

Rosa's Place, located on the former site of a parking lot at 501 E. 5th Street, is being developed in partnership with Daylight Community Development and GTM Holdings. The finished product will consist of a seven-story building containing 97 units of permanent supportive housing, one market rate manager's apartment, and on-site offices for service providers.

Occupants of the building are expected to earn between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level

KFA Architecture and Gensler are designing the building, which has a V-shaped footprint above its podium level to provide open space amenities and natural light.

Completion is expected in Fall 2027.

The project is expected to expand the Downtown Women Center's supportive housing portfolio by 80 percent - making for a total of 216 homes.

Funding for the project comes through the various state sources, Apple, the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, Century, and Citi.
