One block south of Venice Boulevard in Mid-City, two small residential buildings dating to the early 1940s have made way for a slightly larger multifamily residential development.
The project from Development House, now rising from a corner lot at 1669 S. Highland Avenue, will consist of two duplexes on a single lot with an attached recreation room.
Yu2e, Inc. is designing the project, named "The Highland," which will consist of colorful two-story structures with pitched rooflines. All of the residences would have two-bedroom, two-bathroom floor plans ranging from 1,000 to 1,043 square feet in size.
While the project currently consists of two duplexes, Development House founder Sean Navi states via e-mail that the project will pack more onto the approximately 6,250-square-foot lot. The 1,057-square-foot recreation room is to later be converted into two accessory dwelling units, each of which will feature one bedroom and one bathroom.
Completion is expected in March 2024, according to Navi.
