An assisted living facility in Glendale is poised for an expansion, according to a recently issued environmental study.
Twelve Oaks, located just off of La Crescenta Avenue on a 4.3-acre site at 2820 Sycamore Avenue, is owned and operated by Episcopal Communities & Services. The Monrovia-based company is seeking approvals to raze 12 existing structures with a capacity for 60 residents to clear the way for a new three-story, 92,240-square-foot building containing 104 beds for seniors.
HBA is designing the contemporary low-rise development, which would rise three stories in height and include a subterranean parking garage.
"The building is designed in a Craftsman style that is suited to the rural and wooded nature of the site," reads a narrative included with architectural plans filed with the City of Glendale. "The building coloration is, in part, keeping with the existing architecture and makes use of green, sandstone and earth-tone hues that are sympathetic to the natural setting and surroundings."
Pending required approvals, including a standards variance, construction is expected to occur over an 18-month period.
