In an upcoming presentation to the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee (DLANC), developer Career Lofts-LA, LLC will provide new details about a proposed mixed-use complex in City West.
The high-rise and low-rise development, dubbed the Bixel Residences, is slated for L-shaped property at the intersection of Bixel and Ingraham Streets. Plans call for a 36-story tower to rise on the northern half of the property, featuring 422 apartments above approximately 5,600 square feet of neighborhood-serving commercial space.
Along 7th Street, a currently vacant lot would make way for a seven-story building containing a 126-key extended-stay hotel. Previous reports have indicated that the hotel may be operated by the Hilton brand Home2 Suites.
The 409-foot tall residential tower would offer amenity decks on its rooftop and along the upper level of its podium. Other indoor features would include lounges, media rooms and a fitness center.
A total of 596 automobile parking spaces would be provided across the development site, including a subterranean structure below the proposed hotel and above-grade levels within the residential building.
The Bixel Residences are being designed by Humphreys & Partners Architects, a Dallas, Texas-based firm with offices in Newport Beach. According to the DLANC presentation, the separate hotel and residential buildings will have common architectural and landscape features, including rectangular massing and vertical and horizontal elements that create a grid pattern.
A timeline and budget for the development are currently unclear.
The project may lead the pack in an upcoming high-rise construction boom for City West, joining two similar projects planned along 7th Street.
