The website of Amsterdam-based hotel chain citizenM has unveiled a rendering for its proposed development near the famed intersection of Hollywood & Vine.

In 2016, citizenM reportedly paid $7.5 million to purchase a one-story commercial building at 1718 N. Vine Street, as well as an adjoining surface parking lot.  Later that year, the company submitted an application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning to construct a 14-story, 216-room hotel on the property.

A rendering of the proposed 183-foot-tall building portrays a slim, boxy structure featuring outdoor decks on the second and twelfth floors, and a large mural facing Vine Street.  A site plan composed by architecture firm Gensler indicates that other amenities would include a fitness center and multiple food-and-beverage venues.

An initial study published for the project in 2016 indicated an approximately 21-month timeline, although a groundbreaking date has not been set for the project.

The Hollywood & Vine project is one of two citizenM hotels planned in Los Angeles, having been joined last year by a proposed 11-story, 315-room hotel at 4th and Spring Streets in Downtown's Historic Core.

The proposed Hollywood citizenM is bordered to the north by the proposed site of the $1-billion Hollywood Center development, which would create multiple mid-rise and high-rise structures surrounding the Capitol Records Building.
