An upcoming presentation to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission has unveiled renderings for developer AJ Patel's proposed hotel south of the Echo Park Lake.

The project, which is slated for a currently vacant .41-acre lot at 1625 W. Palo Alto Street, would consist of a four-story structure featuring 88 guest rooms, amenities and parking for 51 vehicles and 24 bicycles.  The development would rise from the site of a former office building which was destroyed by a fire in 2012.

Designed by Westwood-based architecture firm Gene Fong Associates, the Palo Alto Hotel is portrayed as a contemporary low-rise building, situated on a hillside property flanked by Glendale Boulevard, Belmont Avenue and the Hollywood Freeway.

A timeline and budget for the development have not been revealed.

The proposed hotel sits one block south of a wedge-shaped residential-retail complex from the Bond Companies.
