Just south of 3rd Street in the Westlake community, a collection of small apartment buildings have made way for a larger multifamily residential development.

The project, which is being built by local developer Safco Capital Group at 326 S. Reno Street, will consist of a five-story building featuring 65 apartments - including six affordable units priced at the very low-income level - above 95 parking spaces on two basement levels.

The podium-type building, called Reno Place, is being designed by Los Angeles-based Plus Architects.  A rendering portrays a contemporary low-rise structure.

According to a project website, construction of 326 Reno began in March 2017 and is expected to conclude in 2019.

Safco Capital has invested in several properties in the Westlake neighborhood, and is planning larger developments with apartments and ground-floor retail at 2405 W. 8th Street and 261 S. Burlington Avenue
