Next week, the Santa Monica Architectural Review Board will consider a proposal to develop a currently vacant lot just south of Wilshire Boulevard with a residential-retail complex.

The proposed mixed-use project, slated for a 7,500-square-foot site at 1235 5th Street, calls for the construction of a five-story edifice featuring 23 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, in addition to 1,873 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and approximately 20 vehicle parking stalls.

E.D.D.G., Inc. is designing the mid-rise structure, which would be clad with metal, wood panels, and fiber cement boards.

The project is being developed by a Santa Monica-based entity known as 1235 5th Street, LLC.
