Hollywood Community Housing Corporation's Florence Mills Apartments are now fully-framed in Historic South-Central.
The $40.2-million development - which broke ground last year the confluence of Central Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and Jefferson Boulevard - consists of a four-story edifice which will offer 74 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments atop 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and an 86-car garage.
The property will serve households earning at or below 30, 50, and 60 percent of the area median income, according to a 2018 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.
Designed by KFA Architecture, the project will incorporate a plaza and a community-serving health center. Additionally, a mural of the project's namesake - dancer and singer Florence Mills - will adorn the building.
This is the second development in Historic South-Central for Hollywood Community Housing, which opened the Paul R. Williams apartments at the former site of the Angelus Funeral Home last year.
The Hollywood-based non-profit is currently in the midst of construction at similar projects Harvard Heights and unincorporated West Compton.
