Faring, the West Hollywood-based real estate development firm behind plans for some of the city's biggest mixed-use projects, has broken ground on an infill apartment building just north of Santa Monica Boulevard.
The new development, which replaced two single-family homes at 825-829 Larrabee Street, calls for the construction of a four-story edifice containing 13 residential units above a parking garage. Ancillary features would include a theater, offices, and private terraces for residents.
Tighe Architecture is designing the project, which is depicted in conceptual renderings as a contemporary low-rise structure wrapping around an interior courtyard. According to a project description included on the architect's website, the building's facade will include a steel structure supporting a "brise-soleil."
Construction of the apartment complex, which is called the Larrabee Residences, is on pace for completion in Summer 2022, according to a representative of Faring.
Faring, which is led by Jason Illoulian, has proposed new commercial developments at several landmark sites along Santa Monica Boulevard, including an office complex slated to flank the French Market and a proposed hotel adjacent to the historic Factory nightclub.
Outside of its hometown of West Hollywood, Faring's under-construction projects include a new housing and retail complex at 7500 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood and the Union South Bay development in Carson. The company is also seeking approvals to redevelop Carson's Imperial Avalon mobile home park with more than 1,200 apartments and townhomes.
