A new social media post by Metro shows off progress on the G Line Busway's $668-million upgrade in Van Nuys.

Construction of a new elevated crossing and station at Van Nuys Boulevard is now 77 percent complete, with the accompanying Vesper Avenue overcrossing 59 percent complete. A new bridge crossing Sepulveda Boulevard, which started heavy construction earlier this year, is roughly 10 percent complete.

Other elements of the project will include gated crossings at 13 intersections, improved signaling at the busway's 22 other intersections, and upgrades to the bike path which parallels the busway.

Completion is anticipated in 2027.

When completed, the project is expected to cut 12 minutes of travel times for G Line buses, which currently take approximately 50 minutes to travel between Chatsworth and North Hollywood. 

Funding for the G Line upgrades comes from the Measure M and Prop C voter-approved sales taxes, as well as the gas tax approved under SB-1, the state’s gas tax and vehicle fee transportation funding program.
