Tomorrow, construction will officially begin for the 11-mile second phase of the Foothill Gold Line Extension, which will six new stations in the San Gabriel Valley.

The $1.4-billion project, funded in part by the Measure M transportation sales tax, includes new stops in the cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, and Claremont.  The sixth station, proposed in Montclair just past the County line, is contingent on approximately $70-million in construction funding from San Bernardino County.

Completion of the Foothill Extension is expected by 2027, at which point the Gold Line will offer an approximately 40-minute trip to Old Town Pasadena, and a 75-minute ride to Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles.

The most recent extension of the Gold Line opened in 2016, extending service from Sierra Madre Villa Station in Pasadena to Azusa.
