A trio of small residential buildings located just west of Paramount Pictures has made way for a new apartment complex from a local real estate development firm.
Wood framing is now rising at the northwest corner of El Centro and Camerford Avenues, where Empire Property Group has secured permits for the construction of a four-story, 36-unit apartment building above a single level of basement parking.
Levin-Morris Architects, a frequent collaborator with Empire, is designing the apartment complex, which will include a mixture of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans. The contemporary low-rise structure will also include three rooftop decks and a swimming pool.
Construction of the new apartment building is on pace for completion in the second quarter of 2022, according to a representative of Empire Property Group.
The development site is the latest in a collection of new multifamily buildings on the border between the Larchmont and Hollywood neighborhoods, including a similar 34-unit apartment complex that opened four years ago on a neighboring site to the west.
One block south on Melrose Avenue, mixed-use projects from California Landmark Group and Crescent Capital Partners have replaced small commercial buildings and surface parking.
Empire Property Group, which is based out of the Westside, is also developing a 34-unit apartment building with retail in West Hollywood.
