Local investor Adolfo Suaya has secured a $35-million construction loan for his new hotel development near the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Whisky Hotel, which broke ground earlier this year at 1717 N. Wilcox Avenue, will consist of a seven-story structure containing 134 guest rooms approximately 3,580 square feet of ground-floor retail space above a 103-car basement garage.

The hotel, which features design work from CK Architecture and RVCA, will have a contemporary design, presenting a brick exterior covered with vines.  An open-air deck would cap the building's roof.

Suaya, who has financed several Southern California restaurants, has dubbed the project The Whisky Hotel.  The namesake beverage will feature prominently throughout the property, with plans calling for tasting events and a whiskey fountain in the hotel lobby.

Completion is expected in 2022.

The Whisky Hotel joins several other hospitality projects planned in the near vicinity, including a 10-story development slated to rise one block west on Whitley Avenue and an 81-room hotel proposed for an adjacent site on Wilcox.

One block east at Cahuenga Boulevard, Vancouver-based developer Onni Group recently initiated entitlement proceedings to build a 14-story office building.
