Nearly two years after we last stopped by, the wrapping is starting to come off at Adolfo Suaya's Whisky Hotel just north of the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
The project, under construction since 2020 at 1717 N. Wilcox Avenue, consists of a seven-story building which will feature 134 guest rooms and 3,580 square feet of ground-floor retail space at completion. The property also includes a basement garage which will have capacity for more than 100 vehicles.
CK Architecture and RVCA are designing the Whisky, which is currently clad in painted stucco, rather than the brick shown in renderings. Plans also call for a rooftop deck for use by guests and other visitors to the property.
At the time construction was announced, Suaya indicated that the property's namesake beverage would feature prominently in its operations. Plans call for whiskey tasting events and even in a fountain in the hotel lobby.
Completion of the Whiskey was originally anticipated for 2022. The estimated value of the completed building is just over $78 million, according to a project website.
The project joins a handful of new hotel developments planned to the north of the Walk of Fame, including a 10-story inn approved for a site one block west on Whitley Avenue and an 81-room hotel slated for an adjacent property on Wilcox.
Other nearby projects in development include Onni Group's proposed 14-story office building at Hollywood and Cahuenga Boulevard, as well as the Hollywood Arts Collective to the south.
