Florida-based FPG Development Group has filed for construction permits with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to construct a new hotel in Warner Center.

The proposed Home 2 Suites by Hilton, intended to replace an office building at 5957 Variel Avenue, would feature 174 guest rooms with ground-floor retail space, a meeting room, a gym, a pool, and basement parking for 136 vehicles.

DLR Group is designing the contemporary mid-rise development.

According to the Department of Building and Safety, the project is valued at $16.4 million.

The project site sits south across Oxnard Street from two under-construction apartment buildings which will feature more than 600 combined residential units.  Late phases of both of those developments also call for office towers.
