Earlier today, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles for the construction of a new hotel just south of the Santa Monica Freeway.
The subject property, located at 2211 S. Western Avenue, is currently improved with an auto repair shop. Plans call for the demolition of these existing uses, followed by the construction of a five-story, 43,000-square-foot building featuring 81 guest rooms and 6,260 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
A case filing with the Department of City Planning lists the project's applicant as Marc Levun.
The development site is located just north of 2231 Western Avenue, where a five-story building that once served as a hospital is slated for an adaptive reuse project that would transform its interior into 60 apartments. The structure's roof level would also be activated as restaurant space under the proposed development scheme.
Approved plans portray a noticeable redesign of the building, including a black paint job and new balconies. Architecture firm Shubin + Donaldson is designing the project, which is now being shepherded through the permitting process.
