A Hawthorne-based developer has advanced a proposal to construct a hotel near the Green Line's Aviation/LAX Station to the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission.

The proposed development, slated for a property at 11814-11824 Aviation Boulevard, would rise in the unincorporated community of Del Aire.  Plans call for the construction of a six-story building featuring 128 guest rooms and parking for 50 vehicles in an enclosed, street-level garage.

The developer, called William Ashley, Inc., states in correspondence the Department of Regional Planning that it is in negotiations for a Hilton brand to operate the proposed hotel.

Renderings portray a contemporary podium-type building, with the hotel rooms taking a C-shaped form around a swimming pool courtyard.

The project has drawn oppositions from residents and homeowners in the abutting single-family neighborhood.  A community meeting held in October prompted the applicant to propose design changes to the hotel, including increased setbacks and recessing windows to minimize views into neighboring properties.  However, a staff report to the Regional Planning Commission indicates that the proposed changes are not apparent on updated architectural plans.

A timeline for the proposed hotel has not been announced.
