Work is getting underway for West Terrace, a new supportive housing development located just north of the Crenshaw/LAX Line in Hyde Park, general contractor R.D. Olson Construction announced last month.
The project, located at 6604 S. West Boulevard, will consist of a four-story edifice containing 64 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments in addition to on-site supportive services.
FSY Architects is designing the project, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary low-rise structure. Planned on-site amenities include a community room, a playground, an interior courtyard, and a community garden where residents can grow their own fruits and vegetables.
West Terrace, which is anticipated to receive LEED Gold Certification, is on pace for completion in Summer 2022.
The developer of West Terrace, local non-profit organization A Community of Friends, completed a similar supportive housing development - the 49-unit Silver Star apartments - on an adjoining property in 2017.
The project site sits a short walk north of the Crenshaw/LAX Line's Fairview Heights Station, which straddles the border between the City of Inglewood and Los Angeles. Another project, an affordable and supportive housing project from LINC Housing and National CORE, is also under construction next to the at-grade stop.
