After one year of construction, wood framing is starting to rise for Inspire Echo Park,  a new multifamily residential development located just south of the US-101 freeway.

The project, which is being developed by the Chicago- and Los-Angeles based Bond Companies, is located on a one-acre site at 355 N. Glendale Boulevard, where it replaced a collection of small commercial buildings. The finished product will consist of a seven-story structure featuring apartments 90 above parking for 82 vehicles.

Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permitted a slightly larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, the Bond Companies will be required to set aside 10 of the one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments aside for rent as affordable housing at the very low-income level.

HED is designing Inspire Echo Park, which is portrayed in a rendering contemporary podium-type structure. Besides housing, the building would feature open space amenities such as a lounge, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a rooftop deck.

Other recent Bond Companies projects include a mixed-use buildings a few blocks west of Glendale Boulevard and in Hollywood.

The Inspire Echo Park site sits one block south of Temple Street, where another developer filed plans in 2019 to build a similar multifamily housing complex.
