It's official: after two years of construction, the MyFigueroa streetscape improvement project is now complete.

The $20-million project, funded by a grant from the State of California, spans a 2.5-mile stretch of Figueroa Street between Wilshire Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Exposition Park.  Additional improvements through MyFigueroa were also implemented along 11th Street between Figueroa and Broadway.

Project elements include:

  • Protected bike lanes
  • Expanded sidewalks
  • New street furniture, landscaping, and lighting
  • High-visibility crosswalks
  • Island bus platforms

MyFigueroa dovetails with other planned infrstructure projects in the Downtown area, including a proposed streetcar system and similar streetscape improvements slated for 7th Street.

Construction of MyFigueroa was delayed for over one year, initially on account of the heavy rains experienced shortly after the project's groundbreaking in Fall 2016.  Reviews of the the mostly-finished product have been mixed, with frequent complaints of blocked bike lanes and poor signal coordination.
