Kaiser Permanente will offer up a first look at its new Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Plaza medical office building later this month, as completion nears for the four-story, 100,000-square-foot facility.

Located at 3782 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the $90-million complex spans across an 8.6-acre site that was formerly home to a shopping center.  The project consist of a single building, surrounded by 2.5 acres of green space, including a two-mile walking path with exercise equipment.

HOK designed the low-rise structure, which seeks to attain LEED Gold Certification, due in part to features such as a photovoltaic roof canopy.

The property abuts the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza shopping center, where plans for a transformative mixed-use project are currently moving ahead.  Kaiser may also be bringing new development to the neighborhood in the distant future, should the Oakland-based nonprofit pursue a full buildout of a master plan drafted for the Baldwin Hills site.

The open house will occur on Saturday, August 26 from 10 am to 3 pm.
