A year-and-a-half after our last update, construction is in the home stretch for Kanvas LA, a new mixed-use apartment complex near the intersection of James M. Wood Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in Koreatown.
The project from EGC Real Estate Group, located at 905 S. Vermont Avenue, consists of a seven-story edifice which will feature 67 apartments above ground-floor commercial space and a subterranean parking garage when open.
A leasing website advertises a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom floor plans, ranging from 372 to 1,207 square feet in size. Rents for the property start at $1,800 per month and range as high as $4,250 per month.
Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permitted a larger building than allowed by zoning rules due to the site's location hear high-frequency bus lines. In exchange for the development bonuses, a portion of the housing must be set aside for rent as deed-restricted affordable housing.
64North designed the contemporary podium-type building.
EGC Real Estate Group, based in Hidden Hills, is also building an eight-story, 63-unit residential complex on a neighboring property to the west.
