Relevant Group has moved one step closer to building another Hollywood hotel, after the Los Angeles City Council voted yesterday to approve a proposed boutique development at the corner of Selma and Wilcox Avenues.

The new development, which would rise next door to the Dream Hollywood - also developed by Relevant Group - calls for the construction of an eight-story building that would feature 114 guest rooms above 22,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a three-level, 52-car underground parking garage.

Though they will ultimately be part of the same building, the hotel was entitled separately from the retail and parking accommodations, which are already under construction through a separate project.  Dividing the total development in two was one issue raised by four project appellants, amongst which included two labor unions and a neighboring property owner.

The new hotel, which is being designed by KFA Architecture, could eventually join two other Relevant Group projects that are already construction along Selma and Wilcox - a 190-room Thompson Hotel and a 212-room Tommie Hotel.  Relevant is also planning to restore the 1930s Hollywood Citizen News building, which sits between the two hotel sites.

Outside of Hollywood, Relevant Group is also pursuing the development of a hotel and condo development surrounding the historic Morrison Hotel in Downtown.
