The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved just over $23 million in loans for two affordable housing developments in Bellflower and unincorporated Arcadia.

The two projects, when completed, would cost $91.3 million and create 146 new homes. The first, called "The Willows" is being developed by Wakeland Housing and Development Corp. at 15804 Lakewood Boulevard in Bellflower. 

The County is to provide more than $6.6 million from its affordable housing trust fund, contributing to a total project budget of nearly $37.6 million.

Simultaneously, the County also approved more than nearly $8.4 million in affordable housing trust fund money for the Live Oak Housing project from Affirmed Housing Group, which would rise at 4217 E. Live Oak Avenue.

The proposed six-story development would include 95 apartments catering to low- and very-low income households. 

The County previously approved $8 million in No Place Like Home funding for the project, which is expected to cost $50.6 million to complete.
