On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider final approvals for two affordable housing developments planned in the unincorporated communities of Willowbrook and Florence-Firestone.
The first development, by LINC Housing Corporation, would rise at 1854 E. 118th Street in Willowbrook. The five-story building, LINC's second affordable project in the neighborhood, would offer 100 units of rental housing - including one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings - made available to households making between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.
LINC is seeking $29 million in Multifamily Housing Mortgage Revenue Bonds to finance the Willowbrook development.
The second project, from AMCAL Multi-Housing Company, calls for redeveloping the current site of the Florence Library at 1600-1616 E. Florence Avenue with a five-story building containing 109 apartments for low- and very-low-income seniors. Plans call for a mix of one- and two-bedroom units, as well as residential amenities, a parking garage, and a 10,000 square foot retail stall that will serve as a new home for the existing library.
VTBS Architects is designing the project, which would be funded in part by $26 million in Multifamily Housing Mortgage Revenue Bonds, pending a vote by the Board of Supervisors.
The Supervisors will consider both projects at their meeting on July 10.
