In its latest response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation announced yesterday that it will limit the number of passengers allowed on board DASH buses.
Effective April 22, 30-foot buses are restricted to no more than 10 passengers at one time, and 35-foot buses are limited to 12 passengers.
To enforce social distancing, LADOT has already implemented fare-free backdoor boarding on DASH buses, in addition to temporary service cuts due to reduced demand resulting from the ongoing state of emergency.
Metro, which operates buses throughout Los Angeles County, has also reduced service and implemented back door boarding in response to COVID-19. Ridership on Metro buses is down roughly 70 percent since the start of the crisis.
