A 16-acre site previously developed with commercial building and overflow parking for the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance has been cleared for the construction of a new residential complex by Lennar Corp.

The project, named Fashion Square at Del Amo, is located at 3405 W. Carson Street and 21405-21515 Madrona Avenue. Plans approved in late 2024 call for the construction of 260 homes in two-, three-, and four-bedroom floor plans, as well as amenities, parking, and open space.

KTGY and Woodley Architectural Group are designing Fashion Square, which would include buildings of up to four- and five stories in height with parapet roofs, fiber cement horizontal siding, and contrasting tones and colors. Approximately 25 percent of the site would be improved with landscaping, including an open space at the northeast corner of the property and a 14,500-square-foot central amenity area.

Construction of Fashion Square at Del Amo is expected to occur over approximately 41 months.

Developers have recently targeted sites surrounding Del Amo Fashion Center for new housing, including Legacy Partners, which broke ground earlier this year on a 200-unit apartment complex just west of the mall.
