Developers Anderson Pacific, LLC and Ledcor are nearing completion on vertical construction for the Current, a new high-rise residential building in Downtown Long Beach.
The 17-story tower, located near the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue, will consist of 223 apartments and 6,750 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space. When finished, the mixed-use complex will feature a blend of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and penthouse apartments, supplemented by communal amenities such as a zen garden, a rooftop pool deck and a fitness center.
Plans from San Francisco-based BAR Architects and El Segundo-based Rockefeller Partners Architects include a new pedestrian plaza at the foot of the tower, offering green space and outdoor seating areas. The building is also being designed to LEED Gold specifications.
Completion of the Current is expected by Spring 2016. A second phase of the development - a 35-story condominium tower on an adjacent property - will break ground at a later date.
