After ten years, one of City West's most conspicuous parking lots is slated to give way for a mixed-use complex.
Amidi Group, a Redwood-based real estate and development firm, is preparing to break ground on the long-awaited expansion of TenTen Wilshire. The project would consist of a nine-story building at 1027 Wilshire Boulevard, replacing a 37,000-square-foot parking lot with 376 live/work apartments, commercial space, and amenities.
The $180-million project, originally proposed in 2006 as a 52-story tower, was put on hold following the global financial crisis. Amidi later revived the development as the more modest mid-rise edifice reflected in the current plan.
El Segundo-based Bijan & Associates is designing the 1027 Wilshire, which will feature amenities such as a rooftop pool deck, a fitness center, a theater room and an 800-car parking garage.
Completion is anticipated in 2020.
The original TenTen Wilshire, which opened across the street in 2007, repurposed the former 16-story headquarters of the Signal Oil Company as rental housing.
