To minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Los Angeles officials are tapping local hotels to serve as quarantine and isolation facilities.
"[Los Angeles] County also recognizes the importance of the hospitality industry to region’s economy and eventual recovery and would like to partner with interested lodging accommodations to responsibly address the COVID-19 outbreak and ensure work and wages to the City’s hotel labor force to the maximum extent possible," reads a request for price quotes issued by Los Angeles County.
Officials hope to purchase room blocks in a minimum quantity of 100 rooms at a time, and potentially larger numbers should the need arise.
The rooms would be used as a quarantine facility for Angelenos who are unable to shelter in place - including homeless persons.
In addition to pricing information, the request for price quotes also asks for other information about potential participants, including the availability of cleaning staff and food delivery, and whether rooms contain kitchens, microwaves, refrigerators, and private restrooms.

Los Angeles officials have scrambled to create temporary medical and housing facilities to slow the spread of COVID-19, turning to recently-shuttered hospitals and even the City's Convention Center.
As of March 30, there are nearly 2,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County and 44 deaths attributed to the virus.
