Developers AndersonPacific, LLC; Ledcor Properties Inc.; and Qualico Developments Inc. have announced the completion of the Current, a $70-million residential tower at 707 E. Ocean Boulevard in Downtown Long Beach.
The mixed-use development, which held its official grand opening on June 9, consists of a 17-story building featuring 223 luxury apartments and a 10,000-square-foot pedestrian plaza flanked by retail space.
The building offers a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as penthouse suites. All units come equipped with high-quality finishes, washer-dryer units and other stainless steel appliances. On-site amenities include a rooftop pool and sun deck, as well as a fitness center and a private yoga studio.
Designed by a team consisting of BAR Architects and Rockefeller Partners Architects, the Current is inspired by modernist aesthetics, with an exterior of aluminum, concrete and glass.
Billed as the first luxury apartment tower built in Long Beach since 1996, the Current represents more than a decade of work by the development team, which first envisioned the project in 2004. A second phase, which would create a 35-story tower on an adjacent parking lot, is expected to break ground in 2017.
