In January 2025, the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering and Bureau of Sanitation are expected are expected to begin work on the North Sepulveda Pedestrian Island project, which would add landscaping, stormwater capture infrastructure, and a sidewalk to a roughly quarter-mile pedestrian median between Haynes Street and Lemay Street. Plans call for:

  • four new ADA-compliant ramps and upgrades to three existing curb ramps;
  • five new continental crosswalks;
  • 27 new street trees;
  • a five-foot-wide sidewalk;
  • rehabilitation of existing bus stops with street furniture;
  • a seven-foot-wide parkway; and
  • 26 parkway swales.

Construction is expected to last approximately 13 months and conclude in late January of 2026.
