One year after breaking ground, wood framing is on the rise for a new affordable housing complex from non-profit developers Venice Community Housing and Community Corp. of Santa Monica near the E Line in Santa Monica.

Located at 1634 W. 20th Street, the project will eventually consist of a seven-story building featuring 78 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with bicycle parking, a community garden on the rooftop , community rooms, laundry facilities, and outdoor play areas.

The apartments are to serve households earning at or below 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level, according to a 2024 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.

KFA Architecture is serving as architect of record for the project, building off of design work by Atelier Cory Henry.

At the construction commenced, completion was expected in mid-2027.
