The wrapping is off at The Beacon, a mixed-use development featuring affordable and permanent supportive housing in Long Beach.

The project, which is being developed by Century Housing Corporation, is located at the southwest corner of Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street - adjacent to Metro's Anaheim Station.  The two-building development will featuring 160 residential units - including 39 for homeless veterans and 121 for low-income seniors - with 6,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.

The Architects Collective is designing the five- and seven-story structures, which will incorporate open spaces and amenities such as a plaza, a fitness room, and a community room.  The project includes responds to the adjacent light rail stop with balconies closed on one side and open on the other.

Completion of construction is anticipated in late 2019.

Several other affordable housing developments are also rising along the path of the Blue Line - soon to be renamed the A Line - including The Spark at MidtownVistas del Puerto, and the Las Ventanas apartments.
