An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning offers the first glimpse of a proposed mixed-use development in the southernmost stretch of Koreatown.

The project, slated for a property at 3170-3188 W. Olympic Boulevard, calls for razing several small commercial and residential buildings to make way for the construction of a seven-story edifice featuring 252 apartments, 32,100 square feet of ground- and second-floor space, and parking for up to 311 vehicles on two subterranean levels.  The mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings would include 46 apartments to be designated as restricted affordable to very-low-income households.

Conceptual renderings by Archeon Group show a contemporary mid-rise structure, which would be clad with materials including glass, metal, and wood panels.  Architectural plans show a courtyard swimming pool and amenity center, as well as a rooftop deck.

Project applicant Cho Bo Sung, Inc. hopes to construct 3170 Olympic over approximately 18 months.  The initial study does not specify projected dates for groundbreaking and completion.

The proposed development would rise just east of a five-story, 104-unit apartment complex now being built by Jamison Services Inc. and Zackary Bros.
