The wood framework of a new mixed-use development is now complete in Santa Monica.

The project, located at 2300 Wilshire Boulevard, consists of a three-story building that will feature 30 rental apartments and approximately 25,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  Rumors last year pointed to Trader Joe's as the property's street-level tenant.

DFH Architects is designing the low-rise structure, which will be clad with a brick facade.

Completion is expected sometime in 2018.

The project was originally entitled by Beverly Hills-based developer Maxxam Enterprises.  Maxxam is also behind plans for a pair of eye-catching residential-retail developments in Downtown Los Angeles' Arts District.
