Construction is underway for the Link, a new mixed-use building located one block from the Glendale Metrolink commuter rail station.
The project, which comes from the Glendale-based firm Kareco, will consist of a five-story structure featuring 142 apartments - including 12 units of low income housing - above approximately 8,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
TCA Architects designed the contemporary podium-type complex, which is portrayed in a rendering with alternating flourishes of red, white, blue and grey.
Located at the northwest corner of San Fernando Road and Central Avenue, the Link engendered controversy in 2013 due to the 1930s commercial building that it replaced. Preservationists had opposed the project in an effort to save the two-story structure.
