In late January, Texas-based development firm JPI commenced work on a new mixed-use residential development just south of Metro's K Line in Inglewood.

The project, which replaces a car wash at 939 W. Manchester Boulevard, sits one block to the south of Westchester/Veterans Station. Plans call for a  new eight-story building featuring 222 apartments atop 3,500 square feet of retail space and a three-level, mostly subterranean parking garage.

Information released by JPI indicates that the apartments would come in a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom layouts, all featuring stainless steel appliances and in-unit washer dryer sets. Approved plans will require that 11 of those apartments be set aside for rent as affordable housing.

TCA Architects is designing the apartment complex, named Jefferson Inglewood, which will have a triangular footprint that matches the contours of the project site. In addition to housing, the contemporary design calls for amenities including a pool , a clubroom, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck.

“Inglewood is such a cool community that has a wonderful history and vibrant future,” said JPI senior vice president Sunti Kumjim in a release. “We are thrilled to continue building upon the rich history of Inglewood and provide much-needed housing that will support ongoing growth in the Inglewood community for years to come.”

The project is on track to begin opening for residents in early 2026.

JPI recently commenced work on a similar multifamily residential development next to the A Line in Monrovia.
