Two blocks west of Metro's recently-opened Wilshire/La Cienega Station in Beverly Hills, a gas station is set to make way for a mixed-use apartment complex.

The proposed project, slated for a site at 8555 Wilshire Boulevard, comes from applicant Stanley Wilshire, LLC, which is helmed by developers Bijan Radnia and Saeed Kohanoff. The project, which would sit at the northeast corner of Wilshire and Stanley Drive, calls for the construction of an eight-story building featuring 72 residential units above ground-floor commercial space.

Redevelopment of the property is enabled by the City of Beverly Hills' mixed use overlay zone. The density and height proposed for the project would also require the approval of density bonus incentives, meaning that a portion of the apartments would be set aside for lower-income renters.

City records list the project representative as Gabbay Architects.

The project joins other developments int he works near Wilshire/La Cienega Station, including a 140-unit apartment complex at the former site of the Stinking Rose restaurant. Surrounding properties could see the construction of similar developments in the years to come, as Beverly Hills steers density to the La Cienega corridor through its SB 79 alternative plan.
