Last month, the City of Arcadia signed off on a proposal to develop a mixed-use project one block east of the City's A Line stop.

The North Village project, which would rise from a property at 225 North 2nd Avenue, is proposed by an entity affiliated with Giantech Construction, Inc. Plans call for the construction of a new six-story building containing 130 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes above parking for 187 vehicles and ground-floor commercial space.

As a condition of approval, the project will include 20 deed-restricted affordable units priced for households earning up to 80 percent of the area median income level for a period of 45 years.

HP Wu Design & Associates is designing the project, according to plans included with a staff report. The contemporary podium-type development would include more than 17,000 square feet of amenities, such as a gym, coworking office space, and club rooms.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028.

Other projects in the works near the A Line include the Alexan Azalea apartments, which are slated for completion in 2027, and a mixed-use project at the site of the Derby restaurant.
