Framing is complete in Mid-City for a mixed-use apartment complex APPA Real Estate and M. Reinis Development.

The project, which broke ground last year on a corner lot at 5560-5566 W. Pico Boulevard, consists of a seven-story edifice that will feature 40 apartments, 1,350 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and podium parking for 25 vehicles.

Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, granting permission for a larger structure than would have been allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, four of the new studio and one-bedroom apartments are to be set aside as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.

The new development will rise directly across Curson Avenue from a similar mixed-use project recently developed by Wiseman Residential.

APPA, in addition to its new project on Pico, previously developed a similar mixed-use building in the unincorporated community of East Pasadena.
