Construction is complete for the fifth phase of the Jordan Downs redevelopment in Watts. 

The completion of Mariposa, marked by a ceremony held by HACLA and The Michaels Organization earlier this month, marks the debut of 75 new one-, two-, three-, four-, and bedroom homes. 'The property includes a mix of affordable and market-rate units, as well as common spaces and an early childhood education center. 

Practice designed Mariposa, while Walton Construction served as the general contractor.

Concurrently with the completion of Mariposa, HACLA and The Michaels Organization also marked the start of work on a new park adjacent to Mariposa - the Children’s Park. The new space, which will be the third park in the Jordan Downs complex, is to include play areas, a splash pad, a junior basketball court, and other gathering areas. Funding came through various state and local programs, and is expected to be completed in Summer 2027.

Jordan Downs has seen more than $1 billion in investment over the past decade, resulting in the construction of new parks, 120,000 square feet of commercial space, and 863 new homes by the Michaels Organization and Bridge Housing. Construction is set to begin this year for the Michaels Organization's sixth housing development at Jordan Downs, which will eventually have 1,500 residential units.
