One month ago, the Amsterdam-based hotel chain CitizenM scooped up a half-acre parking lot in the Historic Core for $13.5 million.  Now, their proposed development will be considered by the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee.

The project, slated for the northwest corner of 4th and Spring Streets, would consist of an 11-story, 130-foot-tall building featuring 315 guest rooms with amenities and 2,000 square feet of meeting room area.

Renderings of the proposed hotel, which is being designed by HLW International, portray a contemporary mid-rise structure clad with bricks and metal panels.

The project would follow a 180-room Cambria Hotel, which is now taking shape inside a 1920s building on the opposite side of 4th Street.  To the west on Broadway, a 35-story condo tower is now under construction.

The Downtown CitizenM is the chain's second outpost planned in the Los Angeles region, following their proposal for a ground-up development near Hollywood and Vine.
